Zakim-Bunker Hill Bridge is dedicated.

Engineer: Menn, Christian. Named for both Boston activist Leonard Zakim and well-known Charlestown monument, it spans the mouth of the Charles River and connects downtown Boston to Charlestown. The widest (10 lanes) cable-stayed bridge in the world, it opens to northbound traffic on March 30, 2003, and to southbound traffic nine months later.
