Wonder Woman is first published.

(Oct.) The character first appears in a comic published by All-Star Comics and then as protagonist in a series by Sensation Comics (later DC Comics) in January 1942. Illustrated by Harry Peter, the comic is written by Tufts psychology professor William Moulton Marston and protagonist is modeled after his wife, Elizabeth Holloway Marston, a graduate of Boston University School of Law. Wonder Woman becomes a television series from 1975 to 1977, and is published in a revised comic book series in 1985.* A movie based on the character is released in 2017.
