Winterson and McManus Saloon is robbed.
July 21, 1908
Three men, believed to be members of a group of Latvian (then called Lettish) anarchists, shoot one of the owners and two of the patrons and rob the saloon at 3171 Washington Street. They flee into Forest Hills Cemetery, which is then surrounded by more than 200 police officers throughout night. Early the next morning, one of the robbers, is shot and killed by police, and the other two escape. They are later killed during a robbery in London in December, 1910.
