Wieners (John) is born in Boston.
1939
John Wieners grows up in Milton, graduates from Boston College, and studies at Black Mountain College. He then moves to San Francisco and becomes a member of the so-called “Beat Poets,” later explaining, “I try to write the most embarrassing thing I can think of.” He returns to Boston in 1971, becomes involved with the Poet’s Theatre in Cambridge and the Beacon Hill Free School, and lives at 44 Joy Street. Wieners dies in 2002.
