Walter Street Burying Ground is established.
1712
It is located on land donated by Capt. Joseph Weld on Peter’s Hill. The property is purchased by Bussey family in 1806, bequeathed to Harvard University, and is today part of Arnold Arboretum. The earliest gravestone is dated 1722 and the latest 1858. Twenty-eight graves believed to be those of Revolutionary War soldiers are removed when Walter Street is widened in the early 1960s.
