February 16, 1953
After being hit by enemy fire in Korea, Williams makes a successful landing despite the fact that the plane’s wheels fail to retract. He is approached by an officer immediately after he jumps out of the cockpit, and Williams later reveals, “I go up there and get my ass shot off and that son of a bitch comes out and wants my autograph.”
