Tudor (Frederic) is born in Boston.
September 4, 1783
The son of judge William and Della (Jarvis) Tudor, and brother of William Tudor, Frederic Tudor attends Boston Latin School, and becomes a merchant, utilizing ice to ship formerly perishable goods to tropical ports. After going bankrupt and twice being sentenced to debtor’s prison, he subsequently achieves spectacular success and is dubbed the “Ice King of the World.” Tudor purchases a home at 34 1/2 Beacon Street in 1853. He dies a very wealthy man on February 6, 1864, and is buried in King’s Chapel burying Ground.
