Tourjee (Eben) is born in Providence.

(Jan.) Eben Tourjee founds music schools in Fall River and Providence, then moves to Boston in January 1867 and founds the New England Conservatory of Music in 1867.* He serves as president of the Boston Missionary Society, the Boston Young Men’s Christian Association, and other organization. Tourjee dies on April 12, 1891.
