(Sept.) Having returned from England to Plymouth, Morton is charged with various efforts to undermine the Massachusetts Bay Colony. John Winthrop writes in his journal, “we thought not fit to inflict corporal punishment upon him, being old and crazy, but thought better to fine him and give him his liberty . . .”
