Thomas Loring arrives in Hingham.

(ca.) An immigrant from Devonshire, England, he settles first in Hingham, becomes a farmer, innkeeper, deacon, and subsequently an official in Hull. He dies on April 4, 1661. One of his descendants settles in Jamaica Plain in 1740.* Another descendant, Katherine Peabody Loring, becomes a close friend of writer Alice James.
