Thirteen candidates are elected to the Boston City Council.

Elected at-large are incumbents Ayanna Pressley (31,768), Michelle Wu (28,891), Michael Flaherty (26,463), and newcomer Annissa Esaibi George (23,439). Incumbent Stephen Murphy (19,538) is defeated after serving on the council since 1996. Incumbents Salvatore Lamattina, William Linehan, Mark Ciommo, Frank Baker, Tito Jackson, Matt O’Malley, Timothy McCarthy and Josh Zakim are elected to district seats, along with newcomer Andrea Campbell (4,309) who defeats 32-year incumbent Charles Yancey (2,699). Just under 50,000 of Boston’s voters turn out (14%), the second lowest total in modern history after just over 46,000 (13.6%) turned out in 2007.
