Theatre Company of Boston is established.

Founded by Naomi Thornton and David Wheeler, the company performs initially in the Hotel Bostonian. Wheeler is artistic director. The company becomes known for its producing new and controversial plays by playwrights including Albee, Beckett, Brecht, Bullins, Harold Pinter and Sam Shepard. Actors include Paul Benedict, Stockard Channing, Blythe Danner, Robert Duvall, Dustin Hoffman, Ian McKellen, and Al Pacino. The company operates in various theaters, including the Charles Playhouse, during the next 20 years, and continues until 1979 [1975].
