Temple Israel (second) opens.
February 28, 1885
(Feb.) Architect: Louis Weissbein. Also known as Congregation Adeth Israel, it is located at 600 Columbus Avenue. Solomon Schindler serves as rabbi for the Reform congregation. The congregation moves to another building (third) on Commonwealth Avenue in 1907,* and to its current building (fourth) on Longwood Avenue in 1973.* The original building is purchased by the by the A.M.E. Zion Church in 1903.*
