Stanton Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church holds its first service.

(July) The church is located at the corner of Stanton Avenue and Evans Street. The congregation was established in the spring of 1886. Thomas Corwin Watkins is the first minister. The building is later used by Zion Temple Holy Church.
