Spooner-Lambert House is built.

1782

Designed in the Georgian style, it is built for Maj. John Spooner and is located at today’s 64 Bartlett Street. The third oldest house in Roxbury, it is purchased in 1788 by Capt. William Lambert, who lives on the 13-acre estate for the next 35 years. Subsequently surrounded by industrial buildings, it becomes the Roxbury Home for Aged women from 1904 to 1951. The building is acquired by Historic Boston, Inc. in 1992 and converted to private residential use in 2002.
