South Street Diner opens.
1947
Originally the Blue Diner, it is located at 178 Kneeland Street (31 South Street). Built by the Worcester Dining Company to serve local factory workers, it is subsequently the setting for a number of movies filmed in Boston. Currently operated by Sol Sidell, it is one of the few restaurants in the city open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
