Some 3,500 students leave school to protest proposed school budget cuts.

Some students demonstrate outside Boston School Department headquarters in Dudley Square and more than 1,000 of them demonstrate on Boston Common, then march to the State House, City Hall, and then Faneuil Hall. Mayor Marty Walsh promises to spare high schools from any budget cuts two days later. Another 1,000 students leave school and march to City Hall to protest school budget decisions on May 17, 2016.
