Shellfish are harvested from Boston Harbor for the first time in memory.

January 6, 2011

Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries allows a small group of “master diggers” to remove soft shell steamer clams at Malibu Beach. The permission illustrates the tremendous progress made in cleaning up what former president George H.W. Bush once called “the filthiest harbor in America.” A clam bed off Thompson Island is seeded with 100,000 small clams on July 7, 2011.
