Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Square is dedicated.

Named for the daughter of the Boston mayor and mother of a U.S. president and two U.S. senators, it is located near her former home at 39 Welles Avenue. Her only surviving son, U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), attends the ceremony, which is held near the site of the former Fitzgerald home, which has since been demolished.
