Robert Goddard launches a rocket in Auburn.

The Clark University physics professor launches it at his Aunt Effie’s farm. The first successful liquid-fueled It reaches a height of 141 feet, and flies 184 feet in 2.5 seconds. Goddard had received a patent for the device on July 14, 1914.
