Rainbow returns to Boston with two kidnapped enslaved men on board.
July 31, 1645
(Summer) The ship arrives with two natives of Guinea, who had been kidnapped during a battle with natives in West Africa. When ship captain James Smith takes first mate Thomas Keysar to court in a commercial dispute and details of the conflict in which they were involved in West Africa are revealed, the General Court orders the two men returned to Africa at public expense on November 4, 1646.
