Prendergast (Charles) is born in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Charles Prendergast arrives in Boston with his family in 1868, and lives live at 86 West Dedham Street. Prendergast attends Rice Grammar School, works as an errand boy for the Doll and Richards Gallery and travels to Europe with his younger brother Maurice in 1886. He and his brother return to Boston, then move to New York in 1914. Charles Prendergast dies in Norwalk, Connecticut on August 20, 1948.
