Pokanoket Club is established.

Formed by a group of young bachelors living in a rooming house run by the Misses Donegan at 100 Mount Vernon Street, the group subsequently rents and then buys a farm in Dover where they maintain a clubhouse. Henry Shattuck is among the members.
