Play-Mor Ballroom opens.

(Dec.) Operated by Ray Galvin, it is located at the former site of the Tent Ballroom (1920s), the Onyx (1935), and the Aragon Ballroom (1936) at 263 Huntington Avenue. The club, which generally features local bands, is renovated and reopens as the Symphony Ballroom on December 25, 1946. Performers include Jimmy Dorsey, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, Billie Holiday, Stan Kenton, Charlie Parker, and Artie Shaw. It closes in Spring 1952.
