Plan A form of government is approved by Boston voters.

The change in the city charter, which goes into effect in 1952, replaces the 22-member city council elected by ward with a nine-member body elected at-large and allows the council to override mayoral vetoes by a two-thirds margin on all measures except loans and expenditures. It also requires new elections to be held in 1951.
