Phantom Gourmet Hot Dog Safari is first held.

An annual event to raise money to fight cystic fibrosis, the event is founded by sportscaster Eddie Andelman and businessman Joe O’Donnell, who lost his son to the disease, and held at Suffolk Downs. It assumes its current name in 2009 and is now held on Lansdowne Street outside Fenway Park.
