Percival Lowell arrives in Boston on board the Jonathan.
June 23, 1639
Born in 1571 in Bristol, England, Lowell, 68, arrives as head of a party of 16 settlers, including his two sons, John and Richard, their wives, servants, furniture and livestock two of his eight children. They immediately makes their way to Newbury (June 23, 1639-Heymann). Lowell dies in Newburyport at the age of 93 on January 8, 1665 (1664-Heymann). His grandsons John “The Elder” and Joseph move to Boston in 1675 and his great-great-great-grandson John “The Old Judge” moves to Boston in 1776.*
