Pashoian (Norman) is born in Malden.

1928

The son of Armenian immigrants from Turkey, Norman Pashoian graduates from Malden High School and begins his first job on August 4, 1947 – as a doorman at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. During his long tenure, Pashoian meets numerous world leaders and celebrities, as well as Claire LeVangie, who works at the Joseph Antell Store across Newbury Street, and whom he marries. Pashoian retires on August 7, 2013, a day on which he declares, “Nowadays, you can come into a hotel with a knapsack on your back, wearing ripped jeans and sneakers. I’ve always liked the old days, when people knew how to dress and always showed up well-groomed and well-tailored.” Pashoian dies on May 26, 2017 in Melrose, and is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
