Paint and Clay Club is established.

Founded by artists unhappy with the number of non-artists in the Boston Art Club, its headquarters are located in a loft on Washington Street. The group begins holding annual exhibitions first in its Washington Street loft in 1881, then at the Boston Art Club in 1884.
