Ordway Hall is built.

It is located in the Province House at today’s 315 – 329 Washington Street. It becomes Morris Bros., Pell and Trowbridge’s Opera House in 1861, Opera House and Trowbridge’s Opera House in 1869, the Lyceum Theatre in 1870. Converted to a hotel in about 1870, the building is destroyed by fire in approximately 1889. It is rebuilt as shops, burns again in 1907, and is rebuilt as the Old South Theatre in 1908, then Gordon’s Old South Theatre in 1920. The building is demolished in May 1922.
