Orange Line shuts down for a month.

(to 9/1) The entire line (the second busiest in the system with more than 100,000 daily rides) from Malden to Jamaica Plain goes out of service, replaced in the interim by a fleet of more than a 160 buses, for 30 days. According to the MBTA, the shutdown will allow the agency to perform maintenance, repairs, and improvements that would otherwise take five years or longer to complete.
