New England Patriots adopt a new logo in Foxborough.

The team drops its longtime logo of a football-playing Patriot dubbed “Pat Patriot” and designed by artist Phil Bissell in favor of a more modern-looking Patriot figure, subsequently dubbed “Flying Elvis.” The National Football League allows team to reinstate their throwback uniforms and helmets in 1993.
