New England Museum opens.

It is located at the northern end of Scollay’s Block at today’s 76 – 78 Court Street. It is renamed Harrington’s Museum in 1840, then Washington Hall when it relocates to 75 Court Street in 1842. It moves to 221 Washington Street on May 25, 1845.
