National Negro Business League is established.

1900

The organization is founded by Booker T. Washington in the Boston home of Dr. Samuel Courtney. Its purpose is “to bring the colored people who are engaged in business together for consultation, and to secure information and inspiration from each other.” Three hundred people attend its founding convention and Courtney is founder of the Boston chapter. The organization holds its annual convention in Boston in 1915, and its diamond anniversary convention here in 1975.
