Moran (Francis P.) is born in South Boston.

The son of Irish Immigrants Patrick and Bridget Moran, Francis Moran grows up on East Third Street and in Dorchester, attends the High School of Commerce and St. Joseph’s Seminary, works in various jobs, and becomes a follower of Rev. Charles Coughlin. He founds the Boston chapter of the Christian Front in 1939,* serves briefly in the U.S. Army during world War II, and returns to Boston but not to political activity.
