Michael Cox is appointed Boston Police Commissioner.

The former chief of police chief in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he is sworn in by Mayor Michelle Wu in a ceremony on City Hall Plaza. Cox was formerly a longtime member of the Boston Police Department, who successfully sued the city and the department for having been beaten by fellow officers after being mistaken for a fleeing fugitive in 1995.
