MBTA Green Line Branch (C Line) service begins.

Initially an extension of today’s C line, it runs along Chestnut Hill Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue to Lake Street. The segment along Commonwealth Avenue from Chestnut Hill Avenue to Brighton Avenue at Packard Corner opens on May 26, 1900.
