Maverick Congregational Church (first) is built.

Designed in Greek Revival style and originally the First Congregational Church, it is located on Maverick Street and is the first church in East Boston. The congregation was established in 1836. William Newell is the first minister. The congregation moves to a new church in Central Square in 1845.*
