Mary Rowlandson arrives in Boston.
May 3, 1676
Rowlandson was released the day before by Narragansett Native Americans, who had captured her in Lancaster on February 20, 1676 (OS-2/10). Her release was negotiated by Wauwus (aka James Printer), a Nipmuck Native American and former employee at the press in Cambridge, who later sets the type for the book in which Rowlandson recounts her experience and is published in 1682.*
