Mary Franklin begins an overnight protest inside Boston Police Department Headquarters.

November 14, 2014

Franklin, widow of a man killed in 1996 and the founder of the newly-established group Women Survivors of Homicide, continues her protest for two more nights until Boston police commissioner William Evans agrees to address her demands to better accommodate families of victims of homicides. But in an attempt to keep pressure on the police department, Franklin leads subsequent protests in 2015 and helps to found a new group, Boston Families Against Unsolved Murders, in 2017.
