Marty Walsh is elected mayor of Boston.

Walsh (D), with 72,583, defeats Boston City Councilor John Connolly (D), with 67,694. Voter turnout is 142,007 or 38.2%. Both candidates received substantial “outside” campaign contributions (Walsh from labor unions and Connolly from education reform activists). Walsh lives at 12 Tuttle Street. Reelected in 2017,* Walsh is credited with promoting housing construction and climate resiliency and steering the city through the coronavirus crisis.
