Margaret Fuller and Julia Ward Howe meet.

The meeting takes place in the studio of Washington Allston. Fuller is not initially impressed by Ward, and later writes, “[If] I could judge from the little I saw of the well known Julie she is inferior to E. (Fuller’s younger sister Ellen) in mind and as affected as she can be.”
