Manufactory House is built.

Built by Sylvester Gardner, Thomas Hubbard and Andrew Oliver, it is located at today’s 1 Hamilton Place. A factory that employs women to spin linen cloth, it operates for only a few years. The building is subsequently rented out as a residence to families in 1768. During the Siege of Boston, the British troops use it as a barracks and then a hospital. The building becomes home to the Massachusetts Bank in 1784, It is torn down in 1804. The site is now home to Suffolk University Law School.
