Linda Dorcena Forry is elected to the Massachusetts Senate.

Rep. Dorcena-Forry (D-Dorchester) defeats Republican Joseph Ureneck in a special election. A Haitian-American, she becomes the first candidate from Dorchester to win the so-called “Southie Seat.” She is reelected until 2018.
