Laws and Liberties of Massachusetts are adopted.

General Court orders adoption of one of the first codes of law to be published in the Colonies. It is arranged alphabetically instead of by subject matter to make it easier to use. Together with the “Body of Liberties,” adopted in 1641, they accomplish a codification of laws that serves the Colony for the next 50 years.
