It is the first of a series of operas performed by the San Carlo Opera Company, a program sponsored by Eben Jordan Jr. The series also includes Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, Faust, Aida, La Traviata, Carmen, Lucia Di Lammermoor, and Lohengrin.
