Kevin White and Louise Day Hicks are the top finishers in the preliminary election for mayor.

White, with 46,913 votes, and Hicks, with 42,293, finish ahead of Joseph Timilty, with 28,389, Thomas Atkins, with 16,917, John Saltonstall, 6,943, and John Powers Jr., 1,392.
