Kennedy (Patrick) is born in County Wexford, Ireland.

The son of Patrick and Mary Johanna Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy is the first member of the Kennedy family to come to Boston. He arrives in 1847, settles in East Boston, works as a cooper, marries Bridget Murphy in 1849,* and subsequently lives at 44 Liverpool Street. The great-great-grandfather of John F. Kennedy, he dies of cholera on November 22, 1858, and is buried in Cambridge Catholic Cemetery. His widow, Bridget Kennedy, subsequently becomes a property owner and operates a store and a bakery on Border Street near the site of the East Boston ferry terminal.
