The son of Joseph and of Rose (Fitzgerald) Kennedy, John F. Kennedy graduates from Harvard College, serves in the U.S. Navy and is decorated for bravery in 1943.* He returns to Boston in 1945 to run for Congress, living initially in Room 308 of the Hotel Bellevue at 21 Beacon Street. Kennedy serves in Congress (1947-1953), marries Jacqueline Bouvier in 1953,* then serves in the U.S. Senate (1953-60) and as president of the United State (1961-63). Known for his charm, good looks, and wit, Kennedy is credited with creating a Camelot-style atmosphere in Washington during his short time in the White House. He is assassinated in Dallas, Texas, in 1963,* and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
