Joslin (Eliot P.) is born in Oxford.

The son of Allan and Sarah (Proctor) Joslin, Eliot Joslin graduates from Yale College and Harvard Medical School, becomes the first doctor to specialize in treating diabetes in the U.S. beginning in 1893. He opens an office in an office in his parents home on Beacon Street in 1898,* then moves it to his own new home at 81 Bay State Road in 1905.* Joslin begins work with research partners at the Baker Clinic on Deaconess Road in 1934. He founds the Joslin Clinic in 1952 and the Joslin Diabetes Clinic Center in 1956.* Joslin continues to see patients until a week before his death at age 93 in Brookline on January 28, 1962.
